Story behind the song
I have a thing about love songs. I can't stand most of them. They're trite, unoriginal, bursting with cliches, and worst of all, don't seem like anyone's in love!!! I wrote one with a theme, a message, and a truly romantic sentiment: a less-than-wealthy kid can't give the girl of his dreams gold and diamonds and caviar, but he does the best he can do for her: Chef Boyardee, orange juice, and lying in bed contemplating the moon and stars. It's a story about how money and material goods aren't important...love is.
