Lyrics
City of Brotherly Love
GOP go home now.
Protesters go home now.
Everyone go home now.
Let this city die alone.
On August 1st, 2000, 20,000 said "No!
Repression, death, brutality, this system has to go!"
We came in rags and feathers and we came in suits and ties.
We came with cardboard puppets, spreading truth among the lies.
On August 1st, 2000, John Timoney came
to show Knight-Ridder NewsCorp who's in charge and who's to blame
and for the crime of protest, 420 went to jail.
We were beaten, bound and shackled, held on million-dollar bail.
Two weeks, the hunger-strike went on. We did not give our names.
We said, you won't divide us. You must treat us all the same.
And on September 30th, a full 300 said,
"We will not pay your fines. You must try us all instead."
We are fighting for our freedom. We are fighting for our lives.
The 30 charged with felonies fight with law, not guns or knives.
Not surveillance, nor threats, nor infiltration brings us down.
We say, "The First Amendment stands, even when conventions come to town."
GOP go home now.
Protesters go home now.
Everyone go home now.
Let this city die alone.
The papers say it's over, but the struggle's just begun.
We've got to stick together 'til every trial's won.
We had blood for oil ten years ago and now we have his son.
Now that death is in the White House, tell me, which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys, which side are you on?
Which side are you on, girls, which side are you on?
We stand with the move nine. We stand with Mumia.
We stand against the death machine that killed Shaka Sankofa.
And to every citizen who wants to make a change
We say, "Stand with us. Fight a 'Justice' System gone insane."
We fight with our taxes. Fight with our voting power.
We use public opinion to delay each killing hour.
We lay down our bodies. We sing out our songs
until the president learns that killing is wrong.
GOP go home now.
Protesters go home now.
Everyone go home now.
Let this city die alone.
GOP go home now.
Protesters go home now.
But this city is our home.
We will not let it die alone.
Yes, this country is our home.
We will not let it die alone.
Yes, this world is our home.
We will not let it die alone.
