Story behind the song
Nikki is going to College and Jerome is sad. Jerome didn’t know how much Nikki meant to him until he heard she was leaving. It starts with Jerome walking to the going away party at Nikki’s family home. He arrives and everyone is there. Nikki is busy with everyone wishing her well. Jerome can hear the door close in his Heart like a giant vault slamming shut. He imagines her driving off and it makes him want to be alone. He seeks a quiet room where he can be alone and think. Nikki sees him leaving the crowd and wants to follow. Finally, she manages to leave and seek Jerome. She finds at the window like he’s thinking of leaving. She looks him in the eyes. She can see he could start crying any moment. She quietly kisses him. They share their first kiss. She tells him she will be back. He feels the moment to speak his heart and tells her he thinks he loves her. “I think I could love you too” she whispers to him as she pulls at his arm to return to the party. They return to the party and enjoy the time they have left.
