Story behind the song
The story was originaly created by Ray Bradbury. You can read the story in the book "Golden Apples of the Sun". My father wrote the song when I was 1 year old and I grew up listening to it. I rearranged the music to it when I was 18. Now my father brags on what his oldest son has done. If any one out there knows Mr. Bradbury, Please let him listen to it again.
Lyrics
The last two dinosaurs on earth Lived beside the sea They frollicked and they played there As happy as could be They lived there by the ocean They frollicked in the sea And they played upon the seashore Of the wide and deep blue sea One day one dinosaur Slipped into an oily slime And she was never seen again Not then or for all time Her lifemate in his sorrow Went down into the deep To dream about his loved one In a never ending sleep At the bottom of the sea Then we came upon this scene And swarmed the earth like flees We built a mighty lighthouse Much taller than the trees We put a foghorn in it It called out mournfully It called out cross the vastness Of the wide and deep blue sea Cross that wide and deep blue sea The foghorn's voice was lonely Our saddest lonely sound It beckond to the sailors To heed the dangerous ground It called out to the sailors It called out mournfully And it called out to the monster At the bottom of the sea The dinosaur he heard it He heard our mournfull choice But his heart it leaped with gladness For it was his loved one's voice And he came up from the bottom Where he'd slept a million years And he hurried to the voice that called With gladdness to his ears From the bottom of the sea He saw her oer the ocean She held her head up high Though she stood so very still And had one strange and gleeming eye But he heard his loved one call him She called him playfully From a million years of dreaming At the bottom of the sea He met her in the moonlight Standing there alone He hurried forth to greet her But he touched a cold hard stone He fell in anguish upon the lighthouse It crumbled to the sea Into a heap of rubble By the wide and deep blue sea He mourned then for his loved one Until his eyes were red We heard his awful wailing And we trembled in our beds But had we known twas loves sake That made the monster weep We'd never fear the dinosaur That lies now fast asleep At the bottom of the sea At the bottom of the sea
