Story behind the song
I am a occupational therapist who works in trauma, burns, and intensive care. This song is about a gentle giant of a man who came in for a standard operation. He ended up having multiple complications. One day I was working with him and when he started knocking on heavens door. When he came back he opened his eyes looked at me and said "I'm Back to the Living". His awakening words have always stuck with me.
Lyrics
Four months and counting Living in a white room Should be on an aeroplane Heading for the sun Was big as a bear nw small as a mouse Wife sitting at home in their lonely house Everything going from bad to worse His wife holds his lifeless hand The call for the crash cart to stop his way out He opens his eyes and looks at me He says... Chorus I'm back to the living And I ain't going down I'm back to the living And I'm in the ring I'm back to the living And I ain't going down I'm back to the living Ready to swing Against all odds he fights with heart Pushing his limit and never giving up He sees his wife in their farmhouse Fists of fury he breaks from that room He says... Chorus Solo Bridge Mr. Fisher are you happy? Can you tell me how are you? Did you catch that plane? Are you taking you're ride? Do you see the sun? Do you have your ticket to the paradise? Chorus Outro
