Story behind the song
Well, actually, this song is part of a trilogy. We're going to put the whole trilogy on the site as one song within the next month or two (a nice project for me). This is probably going to be one of our greatest songs (the trilogy that is) to play live. The trilogy will consist of Fields of Azaron, Crippled Shame (yet to be re-recorded), and Ruins of Krudgeon (re-newed, re-mastered, better, different, fantastic, groin-grabbingly raw on-stage). The songs flow together pretty well. So basically, (to sum it all up) the inspiration for the lyrics and some of the writing of this song was based on the idea of trilogy and the story of the trilogy. The theme of the trilogy is a soldier (who thinks about things a little too much) of the Christian armies during the Crusades. He finds himself at conflict with his conscience and his religion. The trilogy is his story, a story of battle, shame, and insanity.
