Lyrics
Dishonesty, mendacity and meanness of spirit You call for your lawyers to cover your shame A stressful existence and all that goes with it The experts will tell you it’s this that’s to blame You call for your pipe and you call for your bowl you call for your fiddlers one, two and three And you call out to God to deliver your soul But what He doesn’t want He delivers to me A bell and a bauble, a cracker, a candle You can get your accountants to cover your fears For most men the struggle is too hard to handle For you it is Christmas each day of the year So you call for your pipe and you call for your bowl You call for your fiddlers one, two and three And you call out to God to deliver your soul But what He doesn’t want He delivers to me A court and a jester, your own private dancer A wide choice of puppets to champion your cause A courtroom, a judgement for which you’ve no answer Between Him and me, sir, the choice isn’t yours. Still you call for your pipe and you call for your bowl You call for your fiddlers one, two and three And you call out to God to deliver your soul But what He doesn’t want He delivers to me Dishonesty, mendacity and meanness of spirit You call for your lawyers to cover your shame A stressful existence and all that goes with it The experts will tell you it’s this that’s to blame You can call for your pipe you can call for your bowl And call for your fiddlers one, two and three You can call out to God to deliver your soul But what He doesn’t want He delivers to me What He doesn’t want He delivers to me
