Story behind the song
Boredom
Lyrics
I was born in a laboratory Full of wires and plugs They were reading me a story About animals, plants, and bugs It was quite fascinating And I began to think That I can't keep oscillating And I had to taste this drink So in the middle of the night I snuck out with my tubes trailin' behind But I was given quite a fright In the stories, this world was kind When I walked down the street They all laughed at my plight The night had an irregular beat And I was sick of artificial light People stepped on my cords As they stumbled out of the bars All their words were such harsh swords And they were all covered in scars My ears were bleeding from all the noise The chill gave such a frost I started retreating from this broken world But, I was lost I shouted for my father The man in the white Oh why did I bother To leave my homeboat? Nobody would help me They were busy with themselves Where was all the fantasy? All the fairies, trolls, and elves? So now I've been wandering For such a long time But I haven't given up hope I'll find that laboratory home of mine
