Story behind the song
That weird sound from Dan's electric drums was unintentional and he was fiddling with it trying to get a normal snare sound. In the beginning it really worked though, but then he started overplaying it, and still trying to change it, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Frank and I were really onto something. This was recorded to Dan's 4-track so fortunately later I had a chance to remove most of the drum track from the mix keeping just the part I liked. It's a miracle he didn't play any cymbals later in the track as I wouldn't have been able to remove those from the mic track with Frank's sax.
