Lafa Taylor is a fresh 19 year old up and coming producer / emcee from Eugene, Oregon. Drawing on his life’s experience growing up with a multicultural background, Lafa’s intelligent, complex lyrics address a broad range of topics, and carry a positive message of inspiration for today’s youth as well as elders. His varied musical style could be described as hip hop beats mixed with reggae, electronica and funk, and his verbal style ranges from spoken word, to melodic vocals, to rapid rhyming. He is also known for his intricate beat boxing, and creates live on the spot beats using his voice and a guitar loop pedal. Lafa’s live show is energetic, dynamic and unique. Lafa has been making a name for himself on the west coast and has opened for the likes of The Lifesavas, Typical Cats, The Procussions and the Visionaries. In the summer of 2003 he released his debut album “Life Music” on which he made all the beats and produced himself. He has also started his own record label “Make Music” which he is fervently and continuously cultivating. Lafa’s second album “Hot Winter” is a step into a new realm of music making. Lafa created this multimedia album while spending the winter in Costa Rica, with a portable studio in his backpack.
