BANTER is a band which combines modern and classic rock sounds in most refreshing ways.
Banter rocked the clubs and airwaves of the Northeast United States from 1996-2004 with a catalog of songs infusing everything from folk and punk and Arabian drones into a unique brand of rock that defies classification (OK, fine, call them alt rock if you must). Their lyrics range from musical paintings of places that have affected their lives (and ours), as found in songs like "The Fort," "Springtime in February" and "Three Weeks," to themes of angst and paranoia as tackled in "Lowered" and "Farewell." Their CDs, which include the highly acclaimed EP and their full-length album , brought the group international attention with reviews in places as remote as Bryansk, Russia and chart success in France. BANTER has performed throughout the Northeast United States from New York to New Hampshire and has championed the New England media from magazines to TV.

Story behind the song
This song is about a nature-made "fort" that existed in front of Dan's house on Long Island when he was a kid, which was formed by the intertwining branches of two short trees which created a dome. This dome of branches served as a clubhouse for Dan and the kids on the block, and a place to plan out enterprises such as neighborhood newspapers, baseball tournaments and yes, rock bands.
Lyrics
There's a dome that's formed by The branches of the trees out front Yeah. In this fortress we will plan The summer's activities Maybe we can make a newspaper Or start a baseball team In these branches we'll lay out Our offices of dreams You can take the tree to the left and I will take the right 2 feet from the sidewalk out of everybody's sight No one ever bothers us 'cause we're nowhere to be found Sitting in our pedestals only 3 feet off the ground We can start a rock band in Our fortress in the yard You can play the cardboard drums I'll play my $10 guitar Writing songs of Alcatraz, Spiders, Fernando Valenzuela That radio station we don't like We'll play it all for Jim You can take the tree to the left and I will take the right 2 feet from the sidewalk out of everybody's sight No one ever bothers us 'cause we're nowhere to be found Sitting in our pedestals only 3 feet off the ground
