I sent a friend of mine an acoustic riff I was messing with and let him know I was playing in D. He got back in touch with me to tell me he had written a song in D some time ago---about 7 years or more and I already had the words to it. I didn't see how the words fit to what I was playing, so he showed me one day. I finished up the song, and now this is a newly recorded version.
Lyrics
down where the wine runs red
down where the sun shines gold
down where I lay my head after this day gets old
I hold a piece of you that you don't know you gave to me
down where the wine runs red-------like the sea, I said red like the sea
down where my heart is cold
down my fingers pray
down where my heart of gold, lies in a pool of gray
I felt a gentle wind that you spoke my name into
down where the winds begin I hold a piece of you
----I----------hold a piece of you
down where the wine runs red/where my heart is cold/where ever I lay my head
after this day gets old
I still hold a piece of you
I still hold a piece of you
I I still hold a piece of you( over and over and over again)
(where the wine runs red, where my heart is cold, where I lay my head)
(when the sun shine gold, where I lay my head when this day gets old)
( where the wine runs red)
I still hold a piece of you
