acoustic guitar and vocal
Acoustic singer/guitarist/songwriter. Another one. But I'm me, not anyone else.
I'm just me: I'm not a band. Using guitar and vocal, songwriting is my main musical activity. It's great when others come alongside.

Story behind the song
I wrote this for possible inclusion on the next Songs Inspired By Literaure (SIBL) compilation CD.I got it to demo standard; my first recording studio experience. The song is my response to Tim O'Brien's anti-war book of short stories, The Things They Carried. My lyric broadens the concept to include any struggles people face.
Lyrics
Things You Carry You cross over under orders You may cross over under fire You brace your shoulders the best you can And grace your thoughts like a hurricane When you cross over on the other side – It’s a landslide. D’you think your bullets and photos can save; Maybe dope or bibles can too? The old order now, it no longer binds When you’re told new bearings, they’re so damned hard to find Stripped by the struggle; no dignity, no truth! Ugliness and outrage, are they your art and virtue? Ch: Things you carry may be heavy Things you carry may be small Things you carry Yes, the things you carry They may never see at all! Br:‘Go tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere.’ Hey, when you go to tell about it know The world don’t wanna hear what you have to tell Go tell it on the mountain: Truth can be too heavy to bear. True war stories show no mercy And they never show their hand What’s the truth? There’s nothin’ much to say, Except: ‘Oh, Hell! The whole world’s turned to grey And the only truth left is truth cannot be claimed, On this truth – I’ll stand.’ Ch: Things you carry may be heavy Things you carry may be small Things you carry Yes, the things you carry They may never see at all!
