Nineteen year old Filipino armed with nothing but a guitar and some songwriting skills.
Kince is a 19-year old songwriter/singer who started out playing for poetry readings and for friends. His goal is to get his music out, and uploading his songs to the Internet is one way he does it best.
Story behind the song
it's about maria makiling---or mt. makiling, at least. there are many legends about maria makiling. one of them tells of her fleeing from a suitor she did not love but was being forced to marry. maria begged for help from the gods of the forest and they hid her by making her blend into the landscape, hence the existence of mt. makiling in the shape of a woman sleeping.
i'm still trying to find the reason why she's in perpetual slumber, but i can't seem to find it online. :( i know i took it up in grade school.
in any case, the figure of the sleeping maria is currently losing its shape because, being an extinct (or is it dormant?) volcano, its soil is rich in minerals. companies are now taking advantage of this and harvesting soil from the mountain for use in landscaping elsewhere.
...basically, that's what inspired this song.
