Story behind the song
In July of 1991, I followed a news story of a missing 3 year old girl, Kayla Klaudusz who's very short life came to horrific end. It took several days before they found Kayla. The words and music came to me in a dream about the child's nightmare in their final moments. It seemed that it had become open season for abducting, battering and murdering children, teenaged girls, wives and girlfriends. I thought it would pass. Sadly after looking into some statistics, I realized the numbers were very average and there are reported cases every week. Dozens followed, not to mention 10 year old Holly Jones, who lived in the same area and left us on May 13, 2001 which has gripped Toronto. Then came 9 year old Cecilia Zhang and the list goes on. It only underscores the problem. Finding a photo of a missing child to post here was very easy. Childfind.com freely offers thousands of them for publication. The little girl in this photo is of Faye Alsadoon, DOB June 26, 1997, Missing since Jul 05, 1999, Whitby, Ontario Canada, Child Find #5525-P Full version, free to download and share. Hopefully your use and distribution might will bring more attention to this problem and reduce this insanity.
Lyrics
How many more days, before we find that little girl? (2) Tell me what's happening to this world (2) Seventeen, and a whole life to live for (2) Now just another body, washed up on the shore (2) Careful where, you let your children play Don't forget to teach them what to say Careful sisters, who you're about to meet Cause women and children aren't safe on our streets Little boy cries, while his momma lies in pain But the tragedy is he'll grow up to do the same They're your mothers, they're your sisters, they're you babies too (2) But the only one who can stop this violence is you (2) Listen brothers, we can stop this fear (2) And we can start with a close look in the mirror (2) Jacques Goudreault August 1991
