Story behind the song
News: Hacker arrested on alleged fraud charges Posted by avid on Wednesday, September 01, 2004 - 12:33 AM (75 Reads) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Hacker arrested on alleged fraud charges 4:23 AM EST 9/1/2004 A New Kensington man was arrested Tuesday afternoon, at 12:30 PM for allegedly stealing more than 2,000 credit card numbers stored in business and corporate computers. Michael "Hairball" Wally, is also being charged with unlawful use of computers, identity theft, attempted unauthorized access of computer systems, and criminal use of a communications Facility. State Police conducted a raid at the location of HBX networks yesterday, and retrieved computers used to host a shell service, hard drives, and other devices. Wally was arraigned and jailed at New Kensington police station yesterday with a bond of $50,000, while awaiting a September 9th hearing before District Justice Frank Pallone. He should be transferred to Westmoreland County Prison today. Trooper Robert Erdely of the State Police computer crimes claims that more arrests of "co-conspirators" may be made. This most recent event is a result of a police raid which took place at the HBX office on May 14, 2004, at which time 15 computers were seized. The computers were seized after Wally posted the results of the HBX Weekly Wardial project on his website, www.hbx.us. After confiscating the 15 computers and searching through the data stored on the drives, investigators allegedly found more than 2,000 credit cards and logs depicting computer intrusions.
