Mr. Watsons corner store was where we all would meet
On Saturday when the chores were done after playing in the street
Us kids all brought some pennies and we spent them all but one
Then off we’d go to the wishing well, we didn’t walk, we’d run

Tommy was a poor boy we weren’t sure of what to think
Cause he didn’t make any wishes, but he’d always take a drink
He’d never take our pennies and one-day I asked him why
