This song was based on a chord progression written by a friend of mine, Wolfgang Riesenegger. Wolfgang and I had attempted to get a band together wo work on original music this past year, but things fell thru and we have kind of lost touch. He did present me with a peice that he had composed several years ago and ask me to work on some lyrics and a melody for it. I reworked some lyrics from my Raleigh days to better fit the theme of the project. After things felt thru, I reworked the song (which had been VERY keyboard driven, very 1980's euro pop) and rerecorded the entire piece.
It is amazing after all that I have lost faith in, I remain optimistic and have faith that there is some greater good. I truly do beleive in Love.
Lyrics
Believe
The cold world turns away
To leave us all alone.
I thought it would be different
Guess I should have known.
Preachers and Politicians
With fire in their eyes
Should have given answers
But all they give is lies.
Another reason I have lost my Faith. . .
But I Believe in Love. . .
I’ve given up so many things
I used to hold as true
I’ve doubted all the powers
Guiding me and you
And I see the hunger
Burning in our hearts
People never can tell
Love and fear apart
Another reason I have lost my Faith. . .
But I Believe in Love
Oh I don’t know
Of Heaven or of Hell,
The answers to these secrets,
Who can ever tell.
Though I’ve never held a needle to the vein,
I’ve needed Love like a drug
And though it brings me pain
I Believe in Love
Another reason I have lost my Faith. . .
But I Believe in Love
