I'm a songwriter who loves to collaborate with other songwriters, vocalists, musicians and producers.
For songwriters who dont sing or perform it is extremely hard to make ones mark in the music business because they dont have a platform to present and promote their work. This is more or less the situation that I, Robert Baitinger, have been confronted with since I started writing songs in 1978.
My idea is to complement my songwriting capabilities with the "helping hands" of excellent artists, musicians and innovative producers. In the age of the internet it has become easier to communicate and collaborate with musicians and producers all over the world. I am utilizing the internet and pursuing the idea of a conceptual studio band with a frequently changing lineup of artists. I call this project the "Rob B. Project" since I supply the melodies and/or lyrics of a song and other musicians/producers/songwriters contribute their talents and skills to make it come to life.
Story behind the song
„A Fool Moon" is about a person who has done the work - healed, moved on, learned the lesson - and genuinely believes they’re past an old love. Then one unexpected moment blows that certainty apart. The “fool moon" isn’t magic; it’s a metaphor for that perfect, dangerous combination of timing, chemistry, and memory that makes someone knowingly make the wrong choice and make it anyway.
Lyrics
A Fool Moon
[Instrumental Intro]
[Verse]
I said I was done, said I was through
Said I was over everything about you
Had my guard up, nothing to prove
Yeah, I was solid, till I ran into you
[Pre-chorus]
One look in your eyes, and I start to bend
Shoulda walked away, but I leaned right in
[Chorus]
It’s a fool moon, shining bright
Makes you swear wrong feels right
I was doing fine till you walked in
Just like that, now I’m yours again
Blame the glow, the wine, the way you move
I’d say it wasn’t me, but that’s not true
Don’t need an excuse to lose my cool
Did it anyway, under a fool moon
Whoa, under a fool moon
[Break]
[Verse]
You say my name like you know it still works
Like you don’t know how bad that hurts
I play it cool, but I miss my cue
Every rule I had comes undone for you
[Pre-chorus]
One more "once" and I’ll pay the price
But god, it feels good to ignore my advice
[Chorus]
It’s a fool moon, shining bright
Makes you swear wrong feels right
I was doing fine till you walked in
Just like that, now I’m yours again
Blame the glow, the wine, the way you move
I’d say it wasn’t me, but that’s not true
Don’t need an excuse to lose my cool
Did it anyway, under a fool moon
Whoa, under a fool moon
[Bridge]
I blame the night, yeah, I blame the sound
I blame your hands that are pulling me down
The moon’s like a mirror, showing me clear
That I like being lost, as long as you’re here
[Final chorus]
It’s a fool moon, shining bright
Makes you swear wrong feels right
I was doing fine till you walked in
Just like that, now I’m yours again
Blame the glow, the wine, the way you move
I’d say it wasn’t me, but that’s not true
Don’t need an excuse to lose my cool
Did it anyway, under a fool moon
Whoa, under a fool moon
[Outro]
Whoa, under a fool moon
Whoa, under a fool moon
