Story behind the song
The Queen Anne's Lace image is an image that has been with me for some time. . .several years in fact. It is an image which is to bring to mind an open field, a quiet place: something wholesome, even sacred. As my children grow, All I can hope for them is that they will be filled with the kind of serenity, hope, and contact with the earth that will sustain them for all their days.
Lyrics
Queen Anne’s Lace You live in love forever No matter where the road leads Running in the sunshine Laugh with all your soul I would give up anything To keep you whole Keep wonder in your heart and soul And this song on your tongue Remember that I’ve loved you With everything I know All I wish in my heart of hearts That you will let love flow To see you in the sun by crystal waters Dancing in a bright and lovely place And if I had just one wish, for you, my sons and daughters I only want to see you standing in the Queen Anne’s Lace And if you rage against me. . . The fool I sometimes am And if you should turn away From everything that I hold as true Believe beyond all doubt I always love you I cannot promise only days of joy and laughter But you can take your fears and stare them in the face Oh my daughters and my sons you’ll know the joy that follows after Oh then I’ll see you standing in the Queen Anne’s Lace Everything must end that has begun But I hope that you will always live in grace Always please remember this, my daughters and my sons I only want to see you standing in the Queen Anne’s Lace
