For songwriters who dont sing or perform it is extremely hard to make ones mark in the music business because they dont have a platform to present and promote their work. This is more or less the situation that I, Robert Baitinger, a songwriter from Germany, have been confronted with since I started writing songs in 1978.
My idea is to complement my songwriting capabilities with the "helping hands" of excellent artists, musicians and innovative producers. In the age of the internet it has become easier to communicate and collaborate with musicians and producers all over the world. I am utilizing the internet and pursuing the idea of a conceptual studio band with a frequently changing lineup of artists. I call this project the "Rob B. Project" since I supply the melodies and/or lyrics of a song and other musicians/producers/songwriters contribute their talents and skills to make it come to life.
Story behind the song
I think I just found a new favorite genre!
It still leans toward pop/rock, but with more sophisticated chords, richer melodies, and a funkier, syncopated groove. Maybe its jazz-rock or fusion pop - I'm still figuring it out.
This track is beautifully produced and instantly puts you in a positive mood. The interlude, right after the bridge, gives me goosebumps every time I hear those "oohs". This might just be one of the best songs I've ever written.
It's called "Step Into the Sun", and it's all about positivity and courage.
When my wife and I moved to Florida to start a new chapter, we we're excited but also a little afraid. Would we find true friends again? Would it ever feel like home?
What we learned is that if you step out of your comfort zone, open your heart, and take a chance, life rewards you in ways you never imagined. Home isn't a place - it's the people you meet.
