Growing up in Austria, I founded my first band in 1994 playing bass, which has remained my main instrument ever since. From early on, I was the kind of musician who composed the music around existing lyrics. Over the years, a lot has changed: from my very first recordings on cassette tapes, to the first steps with Cool Edit Pro, and eventually moving on to Logic each stage shaped my sound and approach. With the internet, it became easier to connect with lyricists and musicians from all over the world and turn ideas into full productions. I was never the strongest lyricist myself, but I developed my own style as a songwriter and composer. The Martin Gustav Project is where I present these collaborations a collection of songs shaped by friendship, creativity, and the joy of making music together.

Story behind the song

The Same Earth is one of the very first songs I ever finished. I wrote it late at night when I was about 16 or 17, after coming home from a concert that left me completely overwhelmed and inspired. I couldnt sleep, so at around 2 or 3 a.m. I picked up my guitar and started singing. Out of that restless night came this song  raw, honest, and full of the youthful anger and hope I felt back then.

A starving child, an old man slowly dies,
A fight in the street, the hate in us so deep.
The pain can heal or let a thousand feelings die,
The stupid war, and children start to cry  singing:

If I was the one to create,
Im sure I would have made the same mistakes.
And I am quite sure Id make more things worse,
But never the same earth.

Women cry, they keep the pain inside.
