This is the sampler of the 2019 Ellis Kim instrumental hip hop album "Fantasy Beats My Reality."
Story behind the song
I wanted to make an album from scratch. That means, no MPC and soundboards. I had no equipment or the old setup, just an old Yamaha keyboard that I played original melodies on that I recorded into a computer. I then chopped the melodies into samples, layered them, arranged them and mixed them down. The result was a raw and dirty sound quality with the clipping, hisses, pops and reverb intact. I wanted that underground basement sound that brought me nostalgia of the old days when I'd record directly into a tape recorder.
