Story behind the song
This song was composed on 7/28/2025. The title seems a little bit weird, but I chose it because that is the part of the song that God gave me in the middle of the night, along with the ending; the last four lines (Although the words were added later). So, all I had to go on for the theme was Somebody aint counting. Somebody aint fast enough. Maybe since it was night, I subliminally thought of counting sheep. Then the Jesus parable of the lost sheep came to mind and I chose that for the theme. The hireling doesnt have as much stake in the sheep as the owner, and is not quick to notice when something is going wrong in the flock, or even a small part of the flock. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, even went so far as to give His life for the sheep. We are as stubborn as sheep, but Jesus still cares for us.
Lyrics
We wandering sheep want to walk our own way til we stray so far from the path Our ignorance is on full display as we walk through the shadow of death. The hireling, who is in charge of the sheep, doesnt care if one is lost. He lets it stray as he goes his way, never thinking to count the cost. Somebody aint counting. Somebody aint fast enough. But, no way around it, youll never be outside Gods love. Pressure is mounting, and our path is getting rough. You seek Your lost sheep, no matter where we may rove The Good Shepherd knows all His sheep by name and immediately sees one is gone He leaves ninty-nine in the fold as He goes to search for the missing one. He finds me trapped, takes me to His lap, and lovingly carries me home. The angels rejoice with united voice, as repentant to Jesus I come Jesus is counting. Jesus is fast enough. No way around it, He saves the sinners soul from Hell. Stress is relieving. My path is getting smooth. You seek Your lost sheep, O Savior, You do all things well. Life is sure as Jesus offerings complete for our salvation, He is the only one. Satan lures us every time we meet, and his temptation is like a loaded gun. Jesus provides the way of escape and in Him the victory is won. All Gods sheep together in one place will in unity praise the Son.
