Story behind the song
This song was composed on 7/24/2025. It is the sixth of my seven songs that aim to put myself in the shoes of Christians in seven of the churches in Asia who received brief epistles from the Savior regarding the status of their Christian walk. This one and the next are different than any of the other five churches, as Philadelphia received almost a complete commendation for their close walk with Christ. Laodicea, on the other hand, received almost a complete rebuke for failing to walk with Christ as they should.

I am a resident of Philadelphia. In the church of brotherly love, our pastor has taught us well.
We are blessed with help from above. We have been preserved from Hell.
Christ is opening doors and no one shuts them. Those He shuts remain in that state.
He is strengthening bonds and no one cuts them. We must walk in love and not hate.
Lord, You see our works and we have kept Your word. With our ears and hearts, we will practice what weve heard.
Even those who oppose You must worship at Your feet. And for all those who know You, You make their faith complete.
As we persevere in keeping Your commandments, in the trial that comes on the whole world,
You preserve us through the One that You have sent. We will enter Your city through that precious pearl.
We will watch for Your return. You will make us pillars in your temple.
As You teach us, we will learn the words of life as Your disciples. By faith we will be residents of Heaven.
