Story behind the song
At 24, I was alone, addicted, and life seemed out of control. I wrote this about how I saw my own existence at the time.
Lyrics
A leather jacket and some faded jeans surround a boy in his early teens with the pavement steaming from the heat of the day he starts to walkin' got to get away no time to get away from the morning light got him a business suit he's makin' some green don't seem to know just what it really means each night he's tired yet he's carrying on quicker you make it boy the sooner it's gone no time to get away from the morning light sitting back old man in a rocking chair you keep on saying that it just ain't fair you've lived your life and revelation's come what do you have to say now that it is done? no time to get away from the morning light
