This is a pretty accurate 're-construction' of a song that we played in a band called, Dolce Vita... early 1980s. I've gone a lot further than the, 'live' with only 4 musicians', version that we played back then.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
We played lively Pop/Rock songs in our band, Dolce Vita. The majority of the lyrics to this song were written by Eddie Lockwood (rhythm guitar and lead vocalist), but I do remember writing the, 'Middle 8', and the intro guitar riff ... but we all contributed to the arrangement ... as we did with all our songs back then. I really enjoyed recording a new version of this for you all ... it's been an absolute 'blast'.
Lyrics
I Used to Be The One (who loved you) Since you've been gone, it's hard to carry on, the days are so lonely, the nights are so long ... (the nights are so long) I just don't care, how many people stare, my nights are so lonely, the days are so long ... (the nights are so long) I used to be the one who loved you I used to be the one who loved you I used to be ... but where've you gone to now? You just can't see, what this is doing to me, people just stare, and I look away ... [and I look away] There'll be a day, when I find a way, when days are not lonely and nights are not long ... (and nights are not long) but since you've been gone, it's hard to carry on, the days are so lonely, the nights are so long ... (the nights are so long) I used to be the one who loved you I used to be the one who loved you I used to be ... but where've you gone to now? Everyday, I've waited for you ... everyday, I've waited for you. I used to be the one who loved you I used to be the one who loved you I used to be ... but where've you gone to now? guitar solo: I used to be the one who loved you (A cappella section: ) I used to be the one who loved you I used to be ... but where've you gone to now? I used to be the one who loved you I used to be the one who loved you I used to be ... but where've you gone to now? guitar solo: to fade-out

Cool of you to revisit music like this one of your old bands and to give new life to it! Brilliant 2025 version and catchy as! it’s a great slice of UK indie pop, which was all over the radio and in the club scene of the early 80’s! Great stuff!
