Story behind the song
I began composing this song following a rehearsal with my band, Custard Pie Power Funk. We were chatting about absinthe, and I shared how many artists have been inspired by the Green Fairy. From Van Gogh to Hemingway, and including Oscar Wilde, Rimbaud, and Toulouse-Lautrec, the list goes on. Yes, the drink packs a punch, and every time Ive tasted the Green Fairys lips, I seem to lose myself. It embodies that bittersweet blend of pleasure, pain, and creativity.
Lyrics
GREEN FAIRY (DONT CHAIN MY SOUL) By: Emiliano Benevides You have a magical power So clever sweet-and-sour Green fairy, is it your call? When and how I will fall? I heard your whisper in my ear I was breathless with fear Green fairy, burning me out Stop trying to change my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul You have an impeccable taste But the feeling was a waste Green fairy, am I out? I just saw my blackout Having the flavor of your lips Like the sun and moon in an eclipse Green fairy, I am in a hole Stop trying to chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul You brought me some art and loss Poetry, colors & chaos Green fairy I am on the ground I cant stand up, my life is upside down And here we are, after many years Am I numb? Without an ear? Green fairy I lost control Please stop changing my soul I see your sound Listen to your colors Starry Night Wheat Fields and Sorrows Skull of a Skeleton With burning cigarette That is my course that is my threat Dont change me Dont chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul Dont change me Dont chain my soul
