Christ centered songs written by Dan Simmons...the best Gospel and inspirational A.I. music on the internet!
"firesong" is the songwriting ministry of Dan Simmons Thanks for stopping by. It's my desire to faithfully share that which has been given to me. This website will be a sampling of recordings that I, along with family and friends, have done over past 45 years. There are over 600 original unpublished songs presented in demo form on this site. Special thanks go to my partners in music, my daughter Amber, son Ian and the guys of Single Heart (Gene, Bob, Chris, Marty and Tata) who joined me to sing praises to the Lord down through the years. I also wish to thank those co-writers and artists that have joined with me in developing new music the passed few years to share on this website. I'm now featuring AI (Artificial Intelligence) groups that I've developed to sing some of the songs. I hope it's evident to everyone... that though the melodies and harmonies, styles and singers may change... JESUS has always been and will always be...the Song! ...this music is one simple expression of a very thankful heart. (Dan is a retired firefighter and ordained minister)

Story behind the song
Though I left Knoxville (Illinois) right after high school the influences of the small town life have never left me and I think helped shape who I am today...Fremont Street rocks this song I wrote several years back about being raised in Knoxville.
Lyrics
I was born a small-town boy...in the heartland of Illinois Yeah I was raised a small-town kid...living just the way my daddy did I started out in small town school...where the teachers taught us all the Golden Rule I'm just a small-town boy...from the heartland of Illinois Well, I grew up with small-town friends...on whom I knew I could depend And we walked the small-town streets...learned to laugh and love and life was sweet And I met a small-town girl...who changed my life really rocked my world Oh she filled my life with joy...in a small-town in Illinois Give me that small-town life...a big old yard, a picket fence, a house, a wife I love that small town charm...where everywhere you look there's open arms I want some small-town friends...and a decent place where I can raise my kids And I'll raise a girl and boy...in the heartland of Illinois Yeah! (instrumental) Give me that small-town life...a big old yard, a picket fence, a house, a wife I love that small town charm...where everywhere you look there's open arms I want some small-town friends...and a decent place where I can raise my kids And I'll raise a girl and boy...in the heartland of Illinois I will die a small-town boy...a grateful heart filled with joy Knowing I was truly blessed...with big time happiness I will always be a small-town kid...'Cause I did it just like daddy did I'm just a small-town boy from the heartland of Illinois Yeah, just a small-town boy...from the heartland of Illinois! Born and raised ...to live my days... in the heartland...of Illinois In the heartland...of Illinois...Illinois!
