I'm easily inspired either by personal experiences, things said in conversation, being given a challenge, or being moved or amused by something. Many genres.

Story behind the song
This was one of the first couple of songs I ever wrote, and rightly or wrongly, I still feel it's one of my best. Kindly arranged and performed by Patrick Jordon (US) and I love his very slow, heartfelt delivery...makes it more poignant I reckon. It's about finding out that someone you love has been telling huge lies, and I guess that's one of the saddest things you can experience in life.
Lyrics
THE GRASS I KNOW IS GREENER The grass I know is greener on the other side, Maybe I’d be well advised to try, The field that I’m walking in is barren brown and dry, And the situation often makes me cry inside. I know I’m sailing solo even though there’s someone there, Waves are rising even more, I know I’m sailing solo ‘cause I know she doesn’t care, The water must be calmer on another shore. CHORUS The grass I know is greener, the taste of life much sweeter, The world looks more alluring through the open door, ‘Cause she’s sure opened up my trusting eyes, She’s started telling lies. Optional bridge ...not on recording My heartbreak is over now her heart has turned to stone, Why did she do it? did she think I’d never know? My heartbreak is over, now I’ve seen the light, And I will be somewhere else tonight. Words/Music © Carol Douglas

Lovely sad ballad with a great male vocal, leads into the chorus line so easily which lifts the feel, fine lyrics and the music is also superb, really enjoyed listening to this track. Ooh just heard the sweet solo at the end, nice playing indeed!
