Fine del discorso segretissimo Giovanni XXIII
Story behind the song
The Moon Discourse is one of the most famous discourses of Pope John XXIII. It was pronounced at the end of the evening on 11 October 1962, from the window of the Apostolic Palace of Vatican City, to the crowd gathered in St Peters Square for the torchlight procession of the opening of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council. Tired of the days commitments, Roncalli, called out loudly, decided to come out and just bless those present[1]. Then he was persuaded to give a simple and short speech that has become one of the most famous speeches in the history of the Church.
