Story behind the song
The Message is the story of a man that receives an interstellar message, transmitted from a dying planet that portends bad things for much of the universe including Earth. He resists, but ultimately succumbs to act on this (ala Moses or Noah). He warns and gathers people and deals with the difficulties and uncertainties of interstellar travel. And once reaching the planet, massive adaptations and transformations occur.

Vetus Mundum /Terra Nova W&M Ron Tintner For untold millennia people looked at the nighttime skies. Creatively connecting a few dots of starlight and imagining complex patterns Constellations. They fit them into their fables, legends and mythologies. How many times have I stared at the skies and wished that I could fly. And gazed at the stars in the black dome of night and imagined I could go there. As a child, I used only my eyes and imagination Then lenses... ever stronger. I pondered the planets and heavenly bodies and wondered on which we could thrive. Now deep space scopes see spectral windows that reveal temperature and chemistry Mass and gravity. Exoplanets with possibilities amidst supernovae, black holes and quarks And all the while Earth ages Senesces. Driven on by internal and external forces... pathogens. And the planet, like its living inhabitants, is mortal. It has a limited lifespan. Earths own beings have evolved to conquer this by reproducing sexual reproduction. providing genomic diversification. Shuffling the genetic deck to draw better hands. How will the Planet - Gaia' do this? By mating with an external planet. Providing its seed in a spaceship A starship. With its own beings. So we mine and parse big data from the deep space scopes and search for planets with lands and seas that can be cultivated, terraformed. Terra incognita. Terra cognita. Terra Nova.
