Mike Williams is a Raleigh, NC-based singer/songwriter.
Mike Williams is a seasoned musician and songwriter based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Drawing inspiration from iconic acts like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Klaatu, and the timeless sound of classic Chicago blues, he has been crafting original music since the late 1970s. During the 1980s, Mike actively pitched his songs, seeking a recording or publishing deal in the industry. By the 1990s, however, he grew disillusioned with the increasingly formulaic demands of major labels. Turning inward, he and his brother began writing and recording their original material in a dedicated 4-track home studio, building a rich catalog of unreleased work. Today, Mike continues to share his music through projects like the Yesteryear Project, which revives and re-records gems from his earlier years. For a deeper look into his journey, check out this engaging interview: From Tom Dooley to Yesteryear: A Lifetime in Music - Q&A with Mike Williams: https://tinyurl.com/3xjw44ux In late 2011, Mike decided to write, record and produce his debut album Leaving Dystopia which was released in February 2013 and remastered in December 2022. Leaving Dystopia continues to be widely listened to across the world. In 2018, Mike released his follow-up album, Hollow Moon which contains 8 original songs. Hollow Moon was remixed and remastered in November 2023. In May 2023, Mike released his third album No More Gods, consisting of 10 original tracks. In December 2023, Mike released two compilation albums: A Decade of Rockers and A Decade of Blues and Ballads. The collections span ten years of his original music from 2013 to 2023. Both albums can be purchased on Bandcamp: https://mikewilliams2.bandcamp.com/ In December 2025, Mike released Love Roller Coaster on vinyl. Love Roller Coaster features eight previously released tracks from Mike, including his top streamed song in 2025, Wrecking Ball. The album is now available and ships from the UK: https://tinyurl.com/2zax94hc Mike is currently working on the Yesteryear Project. The objective of the project is to record and release unreleased original songs and demos from the 1979 to 1992 time period. Some of the songs were recorded on 4 and 8 tracks, while others were recorded on reel-to-reel and cassette. The objective is to release a 10-song album in both digital and vinyl formats by early 2026, with tentative plans for a second album by the end of 2027. Please check out the playlist to follow the project's progress: https://on.soundcloud.com/XPWd6RSLJ71Ph0zgKT Since February 2013, when Mike released Leaving Dystopia, his catalog of songs has been streamed 8.8 million times on major streaming sites as well as receiving 507,000 listens on Soundcloud and over 28,000 plays on Reverbnation.. All of Mike's music is available for listening on Soundcloud, Reverbnation, SoundClick, HearThis.at, and all major streaming sites. Mike's music can be purchased on Bandcamp and Reverbnation. Mike's unique style and fusion of influences shine through in his refreshing and relevant collection of songs, which he hopes will help awaken your inner spirit. Enjoy!

Lyrics
New York City the lights are pretty Takes me away to another day Movie marques so much to see I love the sights and sounds that I feel today Weekend nights on the town just blows me away Taking our time I'll take you my love Walking downtown see the art above Street vendors roll up their cuffs The end of another day has come to end you see They've got to get home so they can pretend that they are free And there's a policeman walking to his beat And people move about the busy street And underground dwellers living under your feet In New York City... Tell me Mr. Man can you lend me a hand This is no time to sit and unwind Radio City oh the line are busy I'd like to go home and be alone with you my dear A lovely way to spend the day let's get out of here Rush hour traffic got the radio on You sit and listen while you're driving your car And soon you know you'll be out and gone From the pushing and pulling of another world It's back tomorrow to face the grind in a swirl And young lovers talking and their holding hands An old man frowns by the paper stand You want to slow down (oo) but you know you can't In New York City...
