A story song. Not autobiographical...I've never run away to sea. If I could go back in time ... perhaps I would.
a maritime adventure

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Lyrics
The Golden Bell (c) David A Briggs March 2024 Intro: sea effects / intro guitar solo: Spoken: Narrator: When I was young, I ran away to sea. with a hat full of ambition, and a head so full of dreams. I was longing for adventure to lands of palm trees and golden sand. I imagined all the excitement, I'd just have to reach out my hand. The 1st. mate: "Can you hear the golden bell at the bottom of the sea? Listen, can you hear it now ?, it's calling out to me" Narrator: So I joined the crew of a sailing ship, bound South for sunnier climes. I remember that Summer day so well, I heard the ship's watch-bell chime. The wind was keen when we headed out South-West on the high, morning tide. And as we reached the open sea, I could see that we were in for a bit of a ride. The 1st. mate: "Can you hear the golden bell from the bottom of the sea? Listen, can you hear it now ?, it's calling out to me" it's calling out to me it's calling out to me Guitar Solo: The 1st. mate: "Can you hear the golden bell at the bottom of the sea? Listen, can you hear it now ?, it's calling out to me" it's calling out to me it's calling out to me. slow fade-out with sea effects and distant guitars
