Story behind the song
Live the life of Nanook! According to the Inuit religion, Nanook is the ruler of the polar bears. Nanook means polar bear in the Inuit language. Inuit is the name by which the Eskimos of Canada and Greenland refer to themselves. The word inuit is the plural of inuk, which means human or real human in Inuktitut. The word Inuit is also used as an alternative to the term Eskimo, as that term is considered offensive by some Inuit. According to tradition, the Inuit believed that Nanook, the polar bear, was powerful, and thought he was "almost human." The Inuit hunters worshiped the large polar bear because they believed that it decided whether the hunters would be successful. “ In 1922 the silent film 'Nanook of the North' was released. That is why I have made a cross regarding the (possible) score or parts thereof. Put your headphones on and listen to this score.
