It never fails
When this excitement’s creeping
I go back and think about the details
These answers I’m seeking
Keep it all consistent
I guess I’m trapped here in this cell
Should I have been more insistent?
Maybe only time will tell
I hope you’re doing well
I somehow knew this from the beginning
You were such an easy sell
But yet somehow, I’m not winning
You really gave me no choice
You’re not exactly what I wanted
The ingratitude you project with your voice
And the lack of emotion you fronted
You stopped me dead in my tracks
And sucked the life straight out of me
I see right through your honesty that lacks
Only a fool would fail to see
I’m sorry to use this book
It’s only because I didn’t want to lose you
I was playing you’d give me a second look
Your forwardness I wasn’t used to
My indecision has been an Achilles’ heel
And I am sorry for that
No real reason for these things I conceal
I just wanted to hold you there as we sat
I wonder just how badly I would feel
Right now I’m not the man you want me to be
It struck me tonight that this situation is real
Hopefully, in time we will see
