Story behind the song
Flight at the End by Matt Warren “This particular song is about conspiracy theories and how they ultimately lead to our demise, Warren explains. References to doomsday-like imagery and rapid deterioration appear reflective of rampant pessimism in such conspiracy circles, and it’s conveyed with wit and effectiveness here. Also engaging is the spacious bridge past the two-minute mark “you can’t escape which touts a dark post-punk demeanor prior to another hooky rock emergence. “Flight at the End is an insightful, melodic offering from Matt Warren." Obscure Sounds "Vocally, Matt could be the lovechild of Benjamin Ian Kowalewicz (Billy Talent) and Tobias Forge (Ghost), a comparison I intend as the highest compliment! I can’t get enough of Flight at the End’, and eagerly anticipate hearing what Warren gets up to next!" Mesmerised "With a voice that hooks you from the first note, Warren delivers his piquant songwriting with a sense of gravitas and range. His vocals ebb and flow with the accentuation of the lyrics, drawing the listener into the narrative. “Flight at the End explores the cyclical damage caused by paranoia, mistrust, and conspiracy theories, painting a haunting portrait of how these destructive forces can lead to our ultimate downfall." Lyrics
Verse 1 I sat looking at the sun and wondered where’d the yellow go, Was it juiced away like cancer? All the planes patrol the skies and now the weather’s turned to ash, There has to be an answer. Chorus This is the flight at the end and we’re falling to the ground, This is the flight at the end and we’re heading down right now. Verse 2 The lines dissect both grey and blue until there’s nothing left of note, A lonely patch off in the distance. Above the islands where there’s gold and everything you can’t imagine, And their stories inconsistent Chorus This is the flight at the end and we’re falling to the ground, This is the flight at the end and we’re heading down right now. This is the flight at the end and we’re falling to the ground, This is the flight at the end and we’re heading down right now. Bridge Walk faster They’re coming for you. Fear the answer You can’t escape the truth. Chorus This is the flight at the end and we’re falling to the ground, This is the flight at the end and we’re heading down right now. This is the flight at the end and we’re falling to the ground, This is the flight at the end and we’re heading down right now.
