Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Many years ago I read two novels by British author, Malcolm Lowry... Under The Volcano and Dark As The Grave Wherein My Friend Is Laid. Neither of them are especially 'easy' books to read. They made an impression on me nonetheless. This song is inspired by them and the story they tell. My good friend Jesus Oldman has helped me turn my 'OK' song into something spectacular and thrilling. He has been my 'Producer and Audio Engineer'. I can't thank him enough for how he has worked his magic on this recording. I'm more than delighted.
Lyrics
Under The Volcano (D A Briggs (2023). Intro: He's looking down, into the valley. From the mountain-top, there's quite a view. He's hoping for, divine salvation. but he's the one, who let this life ensue. Just one more drink with the senorita, Just one more drink and I'll be fine. Just one more drink with the senorita, just one more drink ... pass me more wine. The Gringo, under the volcano. He takes the brunt, of all our scorn. His wilderness years, brought them close together. Now she's gone, his suit is stained and torn. Just one more drink with the senorita, Just one more drink and I'll be fine. Just one more drink with the senorita, just one more drink, pass me more wine. guitar solo Meanwhile, down at the cantina, He drinks tequila...falls off his chair. He wants a way out, of this madness, from black hole of self despair. Just one more drink with the senorita, Just one more drink and I'll be fine. Just one more drink with the senorita, just one more drink, pass me more wine. Outro ...ad-lib guitar improvisation

A bit unusual, those raunchy guitars really set the mood taking me back to a time when a lot experimentation was happening, Sargent Pepper's comes to mind. I like it!

This is really something different from you. Trying to incorporate all the things that we have come to consider typical for Spanish/Latin American music. You created an amazing production, with a great melody and great guitars, trumpets and what ever. Amazing work!

Thanks Jesus. How can you fail if you've got Jesus Oldman on your side. There is a real feel of crowds of people enjoying the fiesta and and getting more and more drunk and more and more lively. Mine's a double Tequila.
