We were talkin’ while we were walkin’
Along the road one day
A very loud and angry crowd
Was standing in our way
They had seen a shocking scene
It made them want to cry
A different look was all it took
condemning men to die
We all want a change
The status quo has got to go
how do we make it so?
We all share the blame
Deep inside it’s hard to hide
our legacy of shame
People lootin’, people shootin’
tempers runnin’ high
Mad as hell but we could tell
there was a reason why
Changing laws has been done before
it never really works
Sad to say our DNA
has prejudice that lurks
We all want a change
The status quo has got to go
how do we make it so?
We all share the blame
Deep inside it’s hard to hide
our legacy of shame
And so my friends to make amends
because we’re out of time
Why not teach our children, each
to grow up color-blind?
