Story behind the song
I decided that I needed a BIG Rock song somewhere on this album... something that features a BIG guitar sound... a Retro/Futuristic/Avant Garde Tour de Force to build the album up to a big finish...oh yes, and I needed a reference or two to the fabulous film, Orphée by Jean Cocteau. "Once an Art student, always an Art student". Yep, this song has all that.

Nice loose groove on this one, surprise changes are kind of progressive in the style of some of the'60s bands, cool harmonies with the guitars. I enjoyed this one, as I have enjoyed quite a few of your works. :)

Really like this, especially the live sounding drums & bass - gives it quite a kick. Great concept and it has a touch of indefinable magic. A definite winner.

This one of yours... it's fucking great. But you're only getting started. Let me lay it on you like so: YOU Own This Sound Now. Nelson doesn't... he gave it up. Why. Who knows. He wanted to be more artsy fartsy... he got bored with rockin' the walls apart... don't know, don't care. YOU own this sound now. Just like I own all the sounds I own, since the original ones who made that sound, don't do that anymore. Gotta throw out garbage.... look at your album cover, that's your clue if you want one. Look at the lightning hitting that house, giving you all the bloody rock n roll voltage you could possibly need. You get it? Here. "KISS ME LIKE SOMEONE SPIKED THE PUNCH". Good. Go. Run with it. But, David. Look, at the cover of this album, which some terribly nice person found and gave you. Now the old rhythm and blues stuff, it's great. But. Look at the sky on this album cover. That sounds like, what this is, so, do more stuff like this. And you did the reference, the head nod to BN, (Bill Nelson?) ... but look, you can take this style, and just invent your own new great songs. I can throw titles at you if you want. Or, think of whatever you like. That's better. You need to break through. See, by now? I KNOW, I'm World Class Amazing. I know I am. I also know, you gotta not rush it, and wait until God bestows, or Lucy bestows (same difference I expect) the magic idea on you, and you can then do it. It is like, "What WOULD Be Bop Deluxe sound like now, if they were still around. And of course, Nelson himself was always the main proponent, just as one could say, "John Lennon WAS The BEATLES" ...only, it's more complicated, 'cause Paul, The First Paul, who died in 1966, he was as magic as Lennon was. William, (Paul2.0) wasn't.
