Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
A great travelogue story song: This is the sort of story song that Chuck Berry did so well. His well known song, Route 66, is a story song of going to California...This is the same kind of thing except that in this song he takes a different route and is urgent to get there by any means. This is a great song to play... well, if you can remember all the lyrics when you sing it. Having said that, my version here leans more towards the excellent version by Elvis with James Burton's playing those tasty guitar licks.
Lyrics
Promised Land (Chuck Berry) I left my home in Norfolk Virginia, California on my mind I straddled that Greyhound and rolled in into Raleigh and all across Caroline We stopped in Charlotte and by-passed Rock Hill, and we never was a minute late We was 90 miles out of Atlanta by sundown rollin' out of Georgia state We had motor trouble it turned into a struggle half way across Alabam And that hound broke down and left us all stranded in downtown Birmingham Right away, I bought me a through train ticket, got across Mississippi clean And I was on that midnight flier out of Birmingham, smoking into New Orleans Somebody help me get out of Louisiana just help me get to Houston town There are people there who care a little 'bout me, and they won't let the poor boy down Sure as you're born, they bought me a silk suit, put luggage in my hands And I woke up high over Albuquerque on a jet to the promised land Workin' on a T-bone steak à la carte, flying over to the Golden State Oh, when the pilot told me in thirteen minutes, we'd set us at the terminal gate Swing low chariot, come down easy, taxi to the terminal zone Cut your engines, cool your wings, and let me make it to the telephone Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia, Tidewater four-ten-O-nine Tell the folks back home this is the promised land callin' and the poor boy's on the line

Rock ‘n roll always makes me smile ! Started playing this stuff in my brothers band when I was about 13 ! You’ve got the blues and rock ‘ n roll nailed in these tracks and beginning to create your own guitar sound ! Awesome David !

Yeah. What She Said. Really does sound like TONIGHT LIVE ON BBC 2, Major Snagg LIVE On Stage. This is Spot On. Very inspiring, which helps, believe me. I just did a very fine album, and the problem with that is, you have to top it. Couple days rest anyway. Well DONE Major.
