For so long
I wanted things to be the same
Why couldn’t this be?
I needed someone to explain
You brought yourself to me
And I loved you
Age was no disparity
I had become someone new
I was wrong
They say love is a drug
It may be hard to understand
You won’t realize until it’s gone
I counted the days
I waited through the weeks
Hoping it was just a phase
Months go by as no one speaks
As I prepare
That one day you may be there
I realize I am getting nowhere
Bordering despair
Should I reprimand?
I final salute to a last stand
Fill in this hole I’ve dug?
It just seems unnecessary to mug
Patiently waiting
Grinding through the things she said
Reaching back to what I left behind
The peaceful place I had fled
Finally feeling so free
This road may be slow to find
Far better than a self worth that’s fading
A clear future I can now see
I found peace of mind
Straightening the crooked line
Cutting the rope from sinking led
Without you, I think I’ll be fine
