Bryan O'Quinn was one of the few underground dance music artists to enjoy negligible mainstream exposure during the late 80s and early 90s heyday of hip-hop soul. Even after industry grimier brands of output eclipsed the ultramodern love stories OQuinn favored, he transitioned his music into the more retro-leaning neo-soul movement, as it was honest and inevitable.
