Three Rows Over and Two Seats Down

Bobby Curtola is in the Canadian rock hall of fame. His fame for me was that this song was among my brother's tiny collection of 45s. I loved the tune as a kid. The original is very pretty; I threw a bit of dirt at it and altered one line.

These are songs to which I have a sentimental attachment for one reason and another.
Anyone who loves music had songs or instrumentals which influenced him or her, that began the love affair with music. The songs on this page are all songs that have been important to me at different times in my life. How many songs the page contains will depend largely on time. I'm always writing new tracks, so these will occur when they become insistent, or when I'm lacking new song inspiration.

Story behind the song
Tommy Casassa wrote this song and made his own recording of it, but that's not the one I heard repeatedly as a child. The hit version was by Bobby Curtola. There were thousands of tracks in the 50s and early 60s that used the grease chord progression. This has the distinction of being the first one I heard. It's a great progression.
Lyrics
There's a girl in school , that I adore. She's a cute little girl, five-feet-four. She's got a personality, the talk of the town.. She sits three rows over........and two seats down. I've got competition, it seems, galore. But I'm the guy, she's waiting for. I go through life with just one bound.. That girl three rows over.........and two seats down. CHORUS: I just can't seem to concentrate, I can't buckle down. I never get my schoolwork done, head's always turned around. I catch the teacher's angry looks, when my head's not buried, in my books. She knows my thoughts are all around.. that girl three rows over.........and two seats down.
