My brother George had this song as a 45 single. We also lived at 45 Glenwood, and uninteresting coincidence. Les and I used to spin this for George and his girl, the lovely Marilyn Maxwell. The song was composed by Beulah Faye Voss & Keith McCormack

These are songs to which I have a sentimental attachment for one reason and another.
Anyone who loves music had songs or instrumentals which influenced him or her, that began the love affair with music. The songs on this page are all songs that have been important to me at different times in my life. How many songs the page contains will depend largely on time. I'm always writing new tracks, so these will occur when they become insistent, or when I'm lacking new song inspiration.

Story behind the song
The original recording of this track, featuring Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs was very successful, it was the billboard 100 track of the year in 1963. It spent many weeks at #1. Les and I loved it a lot. In fact, anything George liked we liked because we loved George. Miss him.
Lyrics
There's a crazy little shack beyond the tracks And everybody calls it the sugar shack Well, it's just a coffeehouse and it's made out of wood Nice espresso coffee tastes mighty good That's not the reason why I've got to get back To that sugar shack, whoa, baby To that sugar shack There's this cute little girlie, she's a-workin' there A black leotard and her - her feet are bare I'm gonna drink a lotta coffee, gonna spend a little cash Make that girl love me when I put on some trash You can understand why I've gotta get back To that sugar shack, whoa, baby To that sugar shack, yeah, honey To that sugar shack And now that sugar shack queen she's a-married to me, We just sit around and dream of our old memories Ah, but one of these days, I'm gonna lay down tracks In the direction of that sugar shack Yeah, me and my baby we're gonna go back To that sugar shack, whoa-oh To that sugar shack, yeah, honey To our sugar shack, Uh huh Our sugar shack Beulah Faye Voss / Keith McCormack
