Story behind the song
Words and music composed by singer and guitarist, Shawn Huss. Shawn writes about the meaning of the song, "no matter our differences, we should all be united because in the end we long for the same thing. Peace, love and happiness. And we should have an urgency to stand together because who knows when we will no longer be able to...." Shawn describes writing the song in 1996 while watching TV the day of the Olympic Games bombing in Atlanta. A ballad version of the song appeared on the bands 2010 album Believe. It was originally recorded on a demo by the band, Upstream, the precursor band to Infused as an upbeat rock song. This new alternative version on the 2022 Divine Sunset album restores It's Coming Home to it's original tempo and feel from the Upstream demo. The alternative version of It's Coming Home features Shawn Huss on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dave Carles on bass, and Rod Skelley on electric guitar, keyboards and drums. The video was created and produced by Bonnie Skelley.
Lyrics
It's Coming Home Sometimes it's hard for me to say But these thoughts won't go away I hold a dream for me and you And I pray it'll happen soon And I will say to you it's coming You want to throw it back When I’ll say to you it's coming Please don't turn your head When I’ll say to you it's coming You want to throw it back When I’ll say to you it's coming home Hold your dreams for me and you Hold your dreams and they'll come true Can we get past all the hate? End all wars before it's too late I want the world to live as one We all live under the same sun And I will say to you it's coming You want to throw it back When I’ll say to you it's coming Please don't turn your head When I’ll say to you it's coming You want to throw it back When I’ll say to you it's coming home Hold your dreams for me and you Hold your dreams and they'll come true
