Story behind the song
This song is 3 layered. Finite things are limited, can be measured have a beginning and end.
The body needs rest.
1st layer during the day we go go go but in the night we rest because we can't go forever without rest. Our going is finite.
Similarly we go through the week but the week END we rest as on the 7th & 1st day of the week from working like that.
Layer 2: by extension the body has a finite time we can move through life but at a certain point it will break down and we must pass away from it...some us to another body on rising while others return to the same on resurrection morning.
Layer 3 We fight and travail a lot in this life but when we accept that the Lord is handling our affairs we rest from struggling and fighting against principalities and let the Holy Spirit work in us fully (the Fullness aka The Rest aka Shabbat fulfilled)
Shabbat fulfilled is not finite but infinite. We have rest in the Lord. Even though our physical form is finite we now have infinite life through the Holy Spirit living in us so our souls will live forever (singly & collectively)
i.e. to know Him is Eternal Life!!!!
