Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
A sci-fi flavoured song inspired by science fiction novels such as, The Machine Stops by E.M. Forester, "Repent Harlequin", Said The Tick-Tockman by Harlan Ellison, 1984 by George Orwell, and other similar novels. The overall sound of my arrangement was greatly inspired by the music of Bill Nelson's and his 1980's albums, Sound-On-Sound and Quit Dreaming And Get On The Beam... So, I decided to write a song about a not too far off dystopian future.

The Machine Never Stops... lyrics and music by David A Briggs (aka. Major Snagg) c 2022 Along the corridors of power ... robot drones salute the tower. I live alone in a cube of light ... I flick a switch, choose day or night. Magnetic images on my screen ... you're always heard but never seen. I keep wondering what to do ... through the window is a brittle view. Inside every living space .. life goes on at a frantic pace. Don't look up ... don't look down ... discard that smile and wear a frown. Stand in line ... bide your time ... just pretend you're doing fine. Dream your dreams, make them last ... endless rows of steel and glass. The Great Machine, serves all our needs ... don't resist, just concede. No more hunger, thirst or pain ... all our lives are just the same. I watch your face on my TV screen ... are you actually a human being? I'll escape, get clean away ... live to see the light of day. All my atoms will be dispersed ... the guilty lead a life that's cursed. I wait for a buzzing at my door ... or the raid at only half past four. Bridge Guitar solo: Now I wait at the terminal gate ... (sound effects) ... They paced electrodes to my head ... this time tomorrow maybe I'll be dead. Magnetic images on your screen ... I'll not be heard or ever seen... I keep wondering what to do ... through the window is a brittle view. Inside every living space ... life goes on at a dizzy pace ... Don't look up ... don't look down ... discard that smile and wear a frown. Sci-fi sound effects etc... Along the corridors of power ... robot drones salute the tower. Great up tempo rocker with a "Big Brother is watching you" kind of lyrics. Lots of nice guitar licks and super production with the right amount of sound effects, reverb and other goodies.

Wow David ! Well youve certainly nailed the new production side! What an imagination too ! Lyrics are great the guitar and bass excellent and overall fantastic song and sound ! Definitely got your own style ! Im half way thru an original got a bit of a block but will get it ! I managed to finish another John Mayer song but you might find it a bit boring after listening to this one ! Will post it later just finishing mixing but struggling to hear out of one ear ! Must be waxed up !
