Story behind the song
i was walking down the middle of a road raised from this huge valley, and i felt like a passive soldier in a great war, so i decided to write of how there is no more space for pacifists
Lyrics
there was a passive soldier in an old and epic war lonely he walked through snow and the blood through death and unmerciless horror one day while on top of the trenches and through no-man's land he passed a battalion that armed up and sang, we're going over the top boys they all must be stopped, we're avenging our honour with a spark and a shot. well he just walked forever and heard them collide, the roar from the mortars the war by the tide the zip of the bullets passed through them they died and all that was left was a blood crimson pride. well that old tired soldier travelled without his tears, for the men of great pain and the men of great fear. he knows for every bullet-wound and for every battle scar, for every ghost of a lost soldier there's a song to which we march. cause when he looked back no one was there...
