The music of Lee Shapiro, which consists of a variety of styles and genres. I would appreciate if you "liked" or commented on any of the songs you enjoy.
My favorite kinds of music is the kind that surprises you. While I enjoy conventional type songs (verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge, chorus), I prefer songs that take you on an adventure. This includes jam songs (Grateful Dead), and songs with many detours and lots of dynamics (Rickie Lee Jones, Dave Matthews). Although most of my songs tend to fall into some kind of normal verse/chorus formula, I do tend to try and mix things up a bit. Which is why most of my songs last longer than 4 or 5 minutes.

Story behind the song
This song was written in the middle of my prolonged dry spell. In the past, Ive been able to write about one song per month. But this is only the second song Ive written in well over a year. While its true, after Trump was no longer president, I had much less to write about. So I fell back on my old standby: regrets of past loves and my obsession with time. But those topics has been wrung pretty dry as well. However, I managed to squeeze this one out, just to try and get back into songwriting.
Lyrics
I am thinking bout the past And how it never lasts Cause time runs us down And you always look ahead To the future instead For love yet to be found And We Never seem to meet On the eternal one way street Never gaining any ground The summers over now, with winter closing in Another year goes slippin by, unnoticed from within The measures of a song add up to one more line And all the songs add up to just another try She sings all the songs she knows All about the highs and lows But still its not enough Try some Dylan for awhile Though he may not make you smile He can always call your bluff Then you step onto the bridge Watching out for that ridge The going could get rough The summers over now, with winter closing in Another year goes by, unnoticed from within The measures of a song add up to one more line And all the songs add up to just another try If I ever find you all alone Ill sing to you bout being on my own If I ever try to make you smile Ill think about the past for a little awhile I cant seem to say goodbye No matter how I try You are still with me Oh Why does it always repeat The song is not complete Until I set you free I try to wish you the best Even though I must confess Im down here on my knees The Summers over now The Winter cold begins More years go slippin by Oh what could have been The lines of the song add up to one more lie And all the songs want you by my side The summers over, with winter closing in Another year goes slippin by, unnoticed from within The measures of a song add up to one more line And all the songs add up to just another try Just another try. Just another try.
